Our extended family has vacationed at the Quarter Deck since 1997. The home is spacious and well equiped. My favorite parts are the beautiful views of the marsh from the front porch and canal from the back deck. The home is open and there are numerous gathering places throughout so that different activities can be enjoyed at the same time. The dining room table is large enough for everyone to enjoy meals together. It is a short walk to the beach. We began coming when our children ranged in age from 3 - 15. It has been a highlight of all of our summers and we recommend it to anyone.

Great rental home for the cost

The Quarter Deck is a spacious, clean home with 5 bedrooms and 3 full baths. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with new applicances and every pot, pan and dish you could want. There is a large screened porch on the back of the house that looks out onto the creek as well as a large porch on the front of the house with the view of another creek. The house is not brand new but has been well maintained. The mattresses, particularly in the 2 bedrooms with twin beds, could use replacing as well as the sofa in the back of the kitchen area, but those are minor issues for us. Like most beach houses in the area, the living area is raised which provides a great spot underneath for the kids to ride scooters, bikes, etc and to store your beach umbrellas, coolers, kayaks or use for parking. There are also 2 enclosed outdoor showers which definitely help when everyone wants to shower at the same time. It is on the 3rd row but this has never been a concern for us because we bring a golf cart to get young children and beach stuff to the beach and back. If you don't mind walking, it is not far and a very pleasant walk unless it is an unusually hot day. Overall, great house for the price and Litchfield is a fabulous place to vacation!

It was very nice to be back 'home' and to walk on the beach! The house looked great and we like the new kitchen floor. The house was clean and ready for us to enjoy our stay. The only issue we encountered was the stove, which we left detailed information with the lady at the rental office. Otherwise the trip was wonderful and we will definitely come back! have a Happy New Year! Don, Elaine, David, Heather, David and Diane

Was great until now...

I recently received my deposit check back and I was charged $100 for blinds. I have rented this property 6 out of the last 8 years and the blinds have always looked the same. I have all adults in my group and there was not any damage inflicted by them, but obviously the owner wants to refinish things on their terms. There are 2 points I would like to make, first we always leave things as we find them and actually buy a few things for the house before we leave (actually I think the owners have 2 of our crab traps we bought in their private secure area), the second being we truly enjoy this house and will rent it again, but Lachicotte will do a walk through Day 1 to make sure this does not happen again.
