We had a Great time.Just a little sad being so close to the public beach we had the same three people every day set up right in front of our house they were very loud .They should have rented the house thats how close they were.I have been renting this same house for a few years but after this year Im serious thinking about moving down further. If I could get the next one down I might consider staying.

Great Little House

Loved the house. Simple and airy. Positives - location, breeze, ocean front and sound back, island nice Negatives - wireless didn't work, plastic bench seat on back porch broken, saw a couple of roaches. Also, the blender seems to be missing the grey rubber gasket.

My favorite place on the planet

This year was the fourth year I have stayed for a week in mid summer at 764 McInnes. This home is second from the end on the south end of the beach. The beach is clean, quiet and relatively unpopulated. I love the ocean in this spot. The home itself is homey and pretty well stocked in the kitchen. The screen porches on the creek and ocean sides are great. The furnishings are "lived in" but comfortable and pleasant. The real estate company that rents it, Lachicotte, is fabulous. All the folks working there are pleasant and so very helpful if you have a problem or need advice. I can't wait to get back there again next year to spend my days under the beach umbrella reading or just watching the waves. Also, the community is charming... I especially love the fruit and vegetable stand north of the North Causeway on Route 17 and the Murrell's Inlet Seafood store :-)

Fun in the water and sun all week.

We all had a great time mainly on the beach playing in the warm water. We also floated down the tidal creek from our dock to the boat take out. The girls went shopping at the local stores and we played putt-putt once. Off course, we ate lots of boiled shrimp and steamed blue crab. We love our beach house right on the ocean and tidal creek. Two screened porches front and back made for good pelican and porpoise watching.

Cockroaches, no A/C for 1/2 the trip, and a loud dryer

We thought this home could use a bit of work. We were told it had A/C, but it only had 4 poorly working window units. We were told a new A/C would be installed on Monday (and it would take about an hour)We had 3 miserable nights of sleep, and very hot days (because there were no screens on windows or front porch to keep bugs at bay). The A/C wasn't up and running until Tuesday. There weren't enough blankets for all of the beds, and the ones provided were in tattered condition. The dryer belt was temperamental. Sometimes the dryer worked just fine, other times the belt squeaked so loudly you could hear it outside on the beach. The back screen door was held shut with a bungee cord, and there was a slew of birds often on the porch for this reason. The private dock was uneven - it looks like they tried to add a new portion on top of the old, and it didn't work too well. My husband about broke his neck when he tripped and fell on the uneven area. My son also took a fall. Very dangerous. The dock is also the last one along the creek and closest to the public beach. We left our poles and nets unattended, they were stolen. We didn't feel safe in this house after that happened, especially since the front porch wasn't screened in and there were no screens on the windows, and some of the window locks didn't work well. The home was clean with the exception of the master bathroom which had dried urine around the base of the toilet, and mold on the sliding shower door. There were no toilet plungers, but fortunately none were needed. The beds were not comfortable, very old - but that's common in a lot of these homes. Beach access out the back door, and creek out the front was great. If this home had wi-fi and a second T.V. that would have made it a bit more bearable. I would not recommend this home. There are many more for slightly more money in much better condition.

Sometimes unforeseen things occur: screens were taken down after another guest called in about them; the owner wanted them removed but chose to replace them himself the following weekend. Fortunately, September does not yield as many insects as hotter times during the year!
The situation of the AC was due to the fact that the main unit had to be replaced according to the maintenance company that entered to inspect the same day the call from the guest was received. They were instructed to install four AC window units which were adequate for the 1500 sq. ft., one-level house.

I've stayed in both McInnes houses several times. They just aren't being kept up the way they should and it reflects negatively on Lachicotte. We had specific issues with the air conditioning, screening and condition of the porches. One of the repairmen removed the entire screening from the front screened-in porch and it was never replaced during our visit. Some screening was replaced on the back porch but there was no way to latch the back screen door. More attention needs to be paid to detail and close regular inspections need to be performed. However, I want to give the Lachicotte Co high marks for their quick responses to our calls requesting service. I realize many of their properties require attention and I do appreciate the way our service requests were attended to quickly.

We hope this occurrence was a one-time situation and are glad the guests were satisfied and had a nice time.
