Historic District of Georgetown - Georgetown, SC

Few other areas in America contain more history or charm than Georgetown, South Carolina. From its earliest beginnings as the probable site of the first European settlement in North America in 1526, to its present status as a vibrant and gracious city of 9,000, Georgetown has long been known for its warm hospitality and Southern charm. The third oldest city in South Carolina, following Charleston and Beaufort, Georgetown was founded in 1729 and became an official port of entry in 1732. Prior to this, all foreign exports and imports had to pass through Charleston. Duties and the added freight had to be paid there. Business Highway 17 runs through the heart of this old fishing village, lined on the east by aromatic tidal and salt marsh creeks. The otherwise fast-paced thoroughfare meanders under ancient oaks by numerous unique seafood restaurants, ranging from old, weathered, time-honored culinary jewels and those with third generation chefs and proprietors to more recent dining establishments with troubadours to delight evening diners. Founded in the late eighteenth century by a Captain Morrall, Murrells Inlet has supplied the Waccamaw Neck with fresh seafood for over 200 years. Fleets of deep-sea fishing boats lie at anchor here and journey daily to the Gulf Stream, bringing an abundance of offshore delicacies. Just off Murrells Inlet lies Drunken Jack Island, where, according to local legend, a pirate was accidentally marooned with no provisions save his shipmates' excess rum supply. Months later, when the ship returned to load up the rum cargo, all the crew found was case after empty rum case, spent rum bottles all along the shore, and the bleached bones of poor Jack. The treasure of Blackbeard is also reputed to be buried here.

Pawleys Island Mainland - Pawleys Island, SC

Pawleys Island, South Carolina, situated 70 miles north of Charleston and 25 miles south of Myrtle Beach, is known as one of the oldest summer resorts on the East Coast. The families of rice planters who owned plantations on the nearby rivers first settled Pawleys Island in the early 1700's. The planters knew that it was unhealthy for their families to remain on the rivers during the summer and that the seashore was much healthier. Even though they didn't know about malaria in the 1700's, they knew enough to get away! They moved their families, horses, cows, bedding, provisions and furniture to Pawleys in May of each year, where they remained until the first frost in November! From this leisurely existence has developed the charm of Pawleys that still remains. Also still remaining are 12 residences in the historic district, which date from the late 1700's to the mid 1800's. Pawleys continues to be known for its shoeless, carefree, laid-back life style, which includes crabbing in the adjacent creeks, fishing, the stories of ghosts, the rope hammocks and the pristine, unsophisticated, casual, delightful stretch of wide beach and sand dunes.

True Blue - Pawleys Island, SC - Mainland

True Blue is a condominium community mingled amid the award winning True Blue Golf Course, ranked #38 Best in the US by Golf Links Magazine. For years True Blue Golf Plantation was known as one of the hardest golf course in the Myrtle Beach area. Designer Mike Strantz was given few restrictions, and he chose to run with it, building one brute of a round of golf. True Blue was marketed as "Golf's Heaven and Hell" in its first two years on the map. And though the course has been softened in recent years to make it more duffer friendly, True Blue retains much of its initial bite. The first four and last four holes are some of the toughest in the areas, though in between there's a small respite from the beating True Blue is capable of handing even the seasoned golfer. Ultimately, True Blue is a solid option for mid to low handicappers on a Myrtle Beach golf trip.

Owners enjoy swimming pools, tennis courts, miles of walking area and discounted golf rates at True Blue and Caledonia Golf Clubs. Three styles of condominiums include villa and multi-level living. This community is nestled in between the river and the ocean with quick and public access to both. Prices range from $124,500-$244,000.
