PAWLEYS ISLAND FESTIVAL OF MUSIC AND ART

Come celebrate the arts and enjoy the lovely settings for musical musings and visual results of our area's artistic inspiration. This annual event has a wide range of events. its wine gala and private wine tasting celebrate the area's finest offerings. The "culinary symphony" pairs talented chefs and gracious hosts in lowcountry homes to treat guests to savory treats. Local dance troups share the joy of their craft and talent. Children's activities such as drawing and painting are also available.

Wearable Art Luncheon

This first annual Wearable Art Luncheon is all about fashion, food, fun, and shopping! A strolling fashion show will feature the hot new trends as well as wearable art and jewelry from local artists. You can shop for unique art, jewelry, hats, scarves and fabulous gifts in the silent auction. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit the Kathy B. Metts Visual Arts Scholarship and the Pawleys Island Festival of Music and Art. Luncheon is sponsored by Sasee Magazine.

Gallery Crawl

Saving Sandy Island

Saving Sandy Island is the story of a unique landform, a historic Gullah community and the coalition that worked over a three-year period to save the land and culture of the island. The program explores the history of the community, whose residents trace their ancestry directly to African rice plantation slaves.

Uncommon Folk

The hour-long program spotlights six self-taught South Carolina artists and their unique and sometimes quirky creations. From the "concrete city" architect to the Midlands' "Chicken Man" to the Catawba Indian potter, the program takes a colorful look at the art and the artistic minds behind their masterpieces.

This film began for me in the winter of 2005 when I went backstage at Mac's concert presenting the release of the band's first CD, "Nothing to Prove." I slipped backstage to grab a quick interview because I was interested in how the name "Plate Full O Blues" originated.

An uplifting feature-length documentary chronicling the International Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs, hosted by The Van Cliburn Foundation. Amateur pianists from all over the world, ranging from self-taught to classically-trained, aged thirty-five to almost eighty, convene in Fort Worth, Texas for a week of competition, music and camaraderie.

The Friends of the Pawleys Island Wine Gala held their second annual Private Tasting of exquisite wines in 2010. These wines were rare, limited productions of select wines donated by local wine enthusiasts, distributors and wine purveyors. The tasting was limited to 24 guests.

Known as the "Pianist to the Presidents", Osborne's credentials are many. The list of White House performances include Reagan, Bush and Clinton administrations. David has performed numerous times for President and Mrs. George W. Bush in the White House. Osborne is a regular performer for Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter in Plains, Georgia.

Please join us for the popular tabled event where tables of 8, 10 and 12 are available for you and your friends to dine. Desserts will be provided for every table by Croissants Bistro & Bakery.

Join table decorating competition and you may win a prize. Gates open at 5:30 pm for this event so you can decorate your tables.

The Hit Men - all New Jersey guys - consist of three of Frankie Valli's Original Four Seasons: guitarist Don Ciccone (who was also in the Critters before the Seasons and Tommy James and the Shondells after the Seasons), keyboardist Lee Shapiro (who also co-produced with Barry Manilow) and drummer/ vocalist, Gerry Polci.

Family Day

The Italian tradition of Street painting dates to the 16th century when artists would travel from town to town for religious festivals and transform the streets and public squares into temporary galleries for their works.
